Snow causes boaters to go to desperate lengths!

Snow.  I'm not sure if there is a more hurtful word to kayakers than snow.  While some boaters pack away the paddling gear and pull out the skis, others spend there life savings and head south.  Then there is a third category - the ones who go out and actually kayak in the snow.  I suppose this article is really for all three types.  The skiers can shake there heads, the travellers can point and laugh, and the others can go out an build this awesome snow ramp!

"When building your ramp, the most important choice is location, location, location.  This means choosing a good area with water depth for landing or crashing, area for the ramp and elevation for runway height and speed.  Start by creating a pile of snow to mould your ramp (kicker) and in-run.  You want a large pile of snow as it will settle and you have to shape and water it to make it solid."
