We've all been there: Got your best paddling buddies together, piled into an aging minivan to take you to the put in , and then you float down the same line you always take.  BORING!  Read this article to not only spice up your run but also to find out how changing things up and getting off the green highway will make you a better paddler!

How to get Naked (and not get arrested)

decentexposure

Now here is a skill that could be considered even more useful that a good roll. I mean think about it - if you screw up a roll you swim, if you screw up getting changed at the put-in you could get arrested.  Just ask Corran Addison about that....

bigdrops

Get Vertical - Spice up your Pool Session or Run down the River

sternsquirts

I had to dig waaay back in the archives for this one but I'm glad I did because I see less and less people every year doing these and that's really too bad!  Stern squirts are a great way to learn and understand edging, timing, balance and boat control, they usually end up with you practicing lots of rolls, and are just plain fun!  You can do these in a pool, on flatwater, or just about any rapid that's deep enough to not hit your stern on the bottom.  Give this a read and go out and try some!

Snow causes boaters to go to desperate lengths!

winterramp

Snow.  I'm not sure if there is a more hurtful word to kayakers than snow.  While some boaters pack away the paddling gear and pull out the skis, others spend there life savings and head south.  Then there is a third category - the ones who go out and actually kayak in the snow.  I suppose this article is really for all three types.  The skiers can shake there heads, the travellers can point and laugh, and the others can go out an build this awesome snow ramp!

Looking at Fear - is there some truth to these words?

Fear

Fear is a very interesting companion.  It can manifest itself in many ways and many forms - sweaty palms, cold fingers, dry throat, a need to run to the nearest washroom.... just to name a few.  But where is all of this fear actually stemming from?  Does it have to do with crazy big holes, undercut rocks, and waterfalls or is it something (or someone) else planting the seeds of fear in our mind?  Read the article and tell us what you think?

The North Stein - Steep and Cheap

northstein

Ever wanted to do a classic multi-day fly in trip for cheap?  Well that's what prompted this adventure to the North Stein.  Looking for a way to get the classic multi-day run in without spending the money on a flight in, these lads found it.  While it didn't come without a little bit of blood, sweat and tears it was certainly worth it and opended up this classic to the next generation of paddlers.
