Description

What: 15th annual Shuswap Kayak Rodeo

When: 5th and 6th of June 2010

Where: Located east of Enderby, the lower Shuswap River runs out of Mabel Lake creating a unique rodeo hole during high water. 

Rodeo events include: pro-class, intermediate and junior divisions for men and women (K-1, OC-1 & C-1). The renowned Ball race from top of the Skookumchuck Rapids will kick things off.  An open flopsam event will provide a little comic relief as boaters ride their craft of choice into the meat of the rodeo hole. This exceptional rodeo site provides a great spot where spectators and boaters alike can enjoy the fun and witness some stunning aerial maneuvers. The event draws about 150 spectators throughout the weekend.

This event is coordinated and produced solely through volunteer activity and is part of a fundraiser for Kayaks for Youth.  All proceeds of the 15th Annual Shuswap Kayak Rodeo, most of which is garnered through the raffling of sponsored goods, go towards the Kayaks for Youth to promote youth kayaking through the annual summer program.  Last year the program was able to subsidize new kayaking gear for community kids to use.  With your help the 15th Annual Shuswap Kayak Rodeo will be another success leading to another amazing summer for kids involved with the Kayaks for Youth.
